Cannot access the On-Line RegisterIn mid April 2006 the New Zealand Teachers Council installed a new site to provide the interactive register query function. The site has been up continuously (with the exception of small maintenance outages). The New Zealand Teachers Council has found that several schools are running filtering software that prevents connections to new sites. The most likely cause is that access is being blocked at your school or via third party service products. If the site appears to be down then there are several possible causes
If you get a blank page The site is being blocked. You will get no message from the New Zealand Teachers Council site unless the interactive site is enabled by your own administrator or your service provider.
Technically it is necessary to ensure that a connection can be made to TCRWebSite.teacherscouncil.govt.nz and register.teacherscouncil.govt.nz (both at IP address 210.54.238.82). Note that the interactive query site has a different address to the main www. site. If you use the Watchdog service: their email address is techhelp@watchdog.net.nz or you may call 0508-WATCHDOG (0508-928-243) to have this problem looked at. Please note that this issue only applies to Schools using Xtra or full-speed JetStream with another ISP, and with the watchdog firewall/router installed at the school.
If you can get to the main www.teacherscouncil.govt.nz site and you then get a "Page not found" error when clicking on the "view register" link. The New Zealand Teachers Council interactive web-site is temporarily unavailable (but should be available soon).
If clicking on view the register shows another page, which in turn displays a specific error message describing an outage. The New Zealand Teachers Council database server is temporarily unable to service the request (but should be available soon). |
