Annual Report 2009 - 2010
In 2009 - 2010 the New Zealand Teachers Council has focused on setting and maintaining standards for entry to the teaching profession.
We have:
Consulted on the development of revised requirements and processes for approving and monitoring initial teacher education programmes, including the implementation of the recently introduced standards for graduating teachers.
Conducted the piloting of quality induction programmes for all provisionally registered teachers and training and support programmes for mentor teachers.
Finalised and implemented revised standards for granting full registration for provisionally registered teachers and for the renewal of practising certificates.
