Professional Leader's role with Provisionally Registered Teachers
As a professional leader or centre manager, you play a critical role in supporting Provisionally Registered Teachers and teachers registered Subject to Sonfirmation (STC).
- A complete description of the processes and requirements involved can be found in the section of the website covering the Induction of Provisionally Registered Teachers.
A summary of the key points is provided below.
Professional Leaders are responsible for Induction and Mentoring programmes for PRTs
In overseeing the implementation of an induction and mentoring programme in your school or centre, it is important to:
- establish an appropriate induction and mentoring policy for all PRTs and teachers registered STC
- ensure that all PRTs and teachers registered STC that you employ have access to an appropriate induction and mentoring programme and that such teachers are formally evaluated and provided with appropriate feedback as part of their induction and mentoring programme (for the ultimate purpose of making a judgement for recommending full registration)
- keep appropriate records of induction and mentoring programmes and of the progress made towards meeting the Registered Teacher Criteria by all PRTs and teachers registered STC
- ensure that evidence is considered and discussed by appropriate colleagues, in order to endorse or not endorse a teacher's TC2 application to move from provisional to full registration
