The Disciplinary Tribunal
The Disciplinary Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body of the New Zealand Teachers Council that considers cases of serious misconduct or convictions that warrant consideration by the Disciplinary Tribunal. These cases are referred to the Disciplinary Tribunal by the Complaints Assessment Committee. The role of the Disciplinary Tribunal is to decide whether or not a teacher can continue to hold his or her teacher registration.
The Disciplinary Tribunal is made up of registered teachers and members of the New Zealand Teachers Council. The Chair of the Disciplinary Tribunal is an experienced barrister and solicitor.
