| Position purpose: |
To administer the requirements for registration and issuing of practising certificates in line with Council policies.
To provide advice on registration matters as required.
To assist with the Compliance Assessment process as required.

Teacher Education, Professional Standards.
External – teachers, principals, board of trustees, NZQA, Australian and United Kingdom registration authorities, police vetting services, Ministry of Education

| Qualifications, knowledge and experience: |

| Teacher Registration: |
- Applications for registration are assessed, in line with the legislative and policy requirements and placed on the register within the agreed Council timeframe and teachers advised accordingly
- Paper work for applications that are assessed as not meeting the legislative and policy requirements for registration is prepared for consideration by Council
- Applications for practising certificate renewals, subject to confirmation and Limited Authority to Teach are accepted or rejected in line with the legislative and policy requirements
- Police vetting and compliance processes implemented as required
- The registration database is up to date, relevant and accurate
- Information and advice about registration is provided
- To have good communication skills and work as part of a team and support other areas of registration
- To demonstrate efficient document management skills
- Computer literacy

- Three week turnaround of routine applications. Routine does not include time for police vet or need to obtain any further information from applications.
- Understanding of and knowledge demonstrated of Council’s policies especially Good character, Registration, Language
- Paperwork for applications for Council is presented in required format, containing all relevant details and an appropriate recommendation.
- Appropriate notes on database including emails, overseas police vet dates,
- Referrals to application review committee noted on database.
- Qualifications checked or other resources about service or notation on file that qualifications have been previously sighted.
- Approvals/declines on database accurately reflect teacher status.
- Database reflects stage of processing.
- Professional Standards team receives all relevant applications.
- Information provided correct and helpful evidence through customer satisfaction.
- Interest and enthusiasm in developing own knowledge of other areas of the Council.
- Willing and able to assist in areas of need and priority within the registration team.
- Willing and able to contribute to ongoing improvements in service and communication with the registration process.

| Compliance assessment including convictions or alert status |
- Information for the Council is prepared as required
- Assistance with Committee functions is provided as required
- Assistance with follow up and referral is provided as requested

- Organising and attending the meeting if required.
- Taking appropriate notes, communication outcomes to relevant staff and applicants.

- Input into strategy and policy development is provided
